West Meon, Old Winchester Hill and Beacon Hill

A hilly walk in the South Downs on good paths. Starting from the delightful village of West Meon we will walk along the disused railway to pick up the Monarchs Way to the top of Old Winchester Hill, from here we will follow the South Downs Way down to cross the River Meon and ascend Beacon Hill. If we are fortunate with the weather, the views from both hills are amongst the best in Southern England and provide a well-earned reward for the efforts of the climbs. From Beacon Hill we again follow the Monarchs Way, quiet roads and footpaths back to West Meon village. There will be the option to finish the day with sociable refreshments at the Thomas Lord Pub.
