Tullecombe.

From the car park we take the Serpent Trail descending westward through shady woodland using the alternative route to avoid the bike park on Coombe Hill. At Rake Hanger we join the Sussex Border Path to descend south through more woodland on Durford Heath. Eastward across open fields with glorious views of the South Downs to Rogate for a latish picnic lunch at the rec (pub next door!). A detour takes us down to Habin Bridge and along the River Rother before ascending to the shade of Fyning Common and our return to the start. Some paths are badly water eroded and have lots of loose stones. There are also a number of fallen trees but easy to step over.
