Location: Winchester Railway Station Transport: Train from Fratton at 9:26, Cosham at 9:35, Fareham at 9:46. It may be necessary to change trains at Eastleigh

Description: The walk ascends St Catherines Hill and then follows the River Itchen across the water meadows to Shawford where we will have lunch. There is a pub at Shawford and sandwiches can be eaten on Shawford Down. After lunch the walk will ascend Shawford Down and continue via Yew Hill and Whiteshute Ridge to St Cross where there may be a brief tea stop, before continuing back to Winchester. The last 0.75 miles will be on lit pavements.
