Compton

THE ROUTE HAS CHANGED FROM THAT ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED

From the playing fields we head down Shepherd's Lane, past the welly wearing sheep to Silkstead Farm. It's then a long gentle climb up the tree covered Silkstead Lane to Yew Tree nature reserve covered in yellow rattle and orchids for a brief drink stop. A short decent then another climb to the top of Compton Down. From here we descend on a track where the tree roots have kindly been highlighted in fluorescent pink for our safety. Then through Compton End, a lovely hay field and a wooded ascent to Hurdle Way and our return to the start. Beware some of the tracks are stony, from small chippings to largish flints.
