Chalk Downland ’n Churches Loop

This is a walk led by Barbara, a Wellbeing walk leader who would like to try some longer walks with our group.  These walks, if popular, will be once a month on a Monday.  Text to say attending appreciated.

A walk that starts through ancient oak woods, dropping down over the Basingstoke canal then climbing in a loop along ancient chalk downland pathways, before dropping into the charming village of Greywell and it’s local springs and ancient character houses. Then climbing to return back through the oak woods.

Starting from Basingstoke Country Hotel, crossing over the M3 along a hard track,  becoming a flint by-way once into the oak woodland.  A few quiet lanes are crossed and there is the option to pause at three delightful small rural churches. There will be two shortish snack /sandwich stops. There could be some muddy sections, but majority of the paths will be well drained flint/chalk tracks or hedgerow/ grass field footpaths.
