Basingstoke Canal Aqueducts

Starting from Frimley Lodge Park, this walk includes sections of the Basingstoke Canal towpath and Blackwater Valley path. We will walk through the nature reserves at Hollybush Hill and Lakeside and visit 2 of the 4 aqueducts on the Basingstoke Canal. There will be a drink and snack stop after about 4 miles at the aqueduct over the A331 Blackwater Relief Road. We will have a longer stop for lunch at the Mytchett Canal Centre (7 miles), where there is a café, toilets and a small visitor centre with information about the canal. The café is likely to be busy on a summer Sunday but cold drinks and ice creams are also available at the visitor centre. The second part of the walk is through woodland before we rejoin the canal towpath at Deepcut. This part includes the second aqueduct which is over the main railway line to London between Farnborough and Brookwood stations.
Refreshments are available afterwards at the café in the park.
